Problem Statement

Niyo’s zero-forex savings account relies on user deposits for revenue. A problem arose as users only funded accounts right before trips and emptied them post-travel. Wish Jars was introduced to incentivize users to keep money in their bank accounts, thus generating continuous revenue for Niyo.

What is Wish Jars?

Wish Jars is a feature designed to help users build consistent savings habits through regular reminders to set funds aside. As an added benefit, users are rewarded with Niyo Coins upon hitting saving milestones, which they can redeem for discounts on travel products like flights and hotels.

A rewards section mentions how many coins the user has earned so far, and where they can spend them.

Transaction history at the bottom of the page gives users updates on the status of their payments.

It's easy to make a wish jar!

All you need to do is enter the name and parameters of the jar, and you are set to save. With a bonus feature: if you're saving for travel, Niyo will recommend a budget tailored to you based on its years of user spending data.

What's next?

This project will go live in 2026 after taking the necessary permission from Niyo's partner banks. The expectation is to see increase in the cumulative savings account balance of Niyo users, as well as increased frequency in adding money to the account.
